Watch the video. You'll see that Kick Butt didn't stop forward motion when he rubbed his nose on the chute and changed direction.

He never stopped forward motion, his nose just touches the rope that ties the chute. That's not a fowl is it?
If you watch the video when they do the replay you will see why they gave a re-ride. Kick Butt hit the side of his head on the chute which caused him to change direction. When Kick Butt hits his head the impact caused Ben Jones to get tipped into his hand and thus getting bucked off when Kick Butt turn the other direction after impact.I didn't think it was a re-ride at first, but after watching the replay I agree with the decision.
I watched the replay, and I would have to agree with the judges in that he did hit the chute. I think it would be the same thing as if he had hipped himself when he first jumped out. The change of direction is really more like a sudden stop from the direction the momentum was going.
Hipping himself is different because that is fouling the rider I think. This bull just brushed the chute and new that he was close so he changed his spin. I would see that all the time when a gate swings open or a bull runs along side the chutes while bucking and those are not re-rides on tv.
The PBR rulebook reads Re-rides will be given only for the following: if a bull stops or fouls the member or stock contractor's equipment fails or performance of bull is inferior.
